We stopped using chemical sunscreens long ago and started on our search for a natural recipe that would work!
The active ingredient in this sunscreen is zinc oxide - which is safe for all ages and acts as a physical sunscreen, not a chemical one. Studies have shown that zinc oxide remains on the surface of the skin and is not able to be soaked in. This greatly increases the SPF of the sunscreen.
The base of this sunscreen is shea butter and coconut oil. Both of these oils have a low SPF and help shield your skin from the sun.
We recommend testing this on your skin first. Apply generously and reapply often. Remember- we are using just plants and minerals, so be sure to see how much your own skin type needs.
Ingredients: organic shea butter, organic coconut oil, non nano zinc oxide, organic carrot seed oil, lavender essential oil, myrrh essential oil, lemongrass essential oil, geranium essential oil.
NOTE: We are not claiming a specific SPF level since our sunscreen has not been tested in a lab and so it would be against FDA laws for us to do so. You will need to reapply and be aware of your own skin type. The zinc oxide is 32% of the recipe.

I love love love this!! I only regret that I didn't order it sooner, especially because I've always wanted to. I only need a small amount for my face and neck. I am in the sun quite a bit and the summer sun and dry climate can be so hard on skin. This is a wonderful addition to my skin routine and wearing under make-up, it doesn't feel oily. I am really enjoying it. I wear it everyday, whether I'm in the sun or not.
I was so happy to find this sunscreen! I like the texture and it feels moisturizing. I did a ton of research on sunscreen in general & this one fit the bill: plastic free packaging, vegan, cruelty-free, non-toxic ingredients, mineral. My safety, the safety & health of animals and the safety for the environment are all important to me and I was glad to find something that met those standards. Please note that even though there's coconut oil (which I've read is comedogenic) it did not cause a breakout thankfully.
I bought this in Philly on a whim. The sunscreen feels really great and as a bonus - it keeps the bugs away. I sometimes use it just as a natural bug spray. I really love it. To me it’s worth the price and it’s lasted a really long time too.
I bought this a few months ago and I am in love with it! I work in construction in the Pacific Northwest, so that means conditions go from rain to sun to wind to hail all within hours. My skin was super dry this last winter and I needed something new that was plastic free, I found this sunblock that keeps me protected and looking good! I usually apply a dime size amount in the morning, there is a bit of massing to get the zinc distributed and it leaves my skin moisturized. So far, with a few hours here and there in direct sun, I have not needed to reapply. If I am sweating, I do reapply. Thank you for making this wonderful product!
