Brooklyn Thief Essential Oil Blend (our version of Thieves)

Ingredients: Orange (Citrus Sinensis), Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Globulus), Clove (Syzygium aromaticum), Cinnamon leaf (Cinnamomum verum), Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Mandarin (Citrus reticulata), Cinnamon Bark Ceylon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum), Blood Orange (Citrus x sinensis)

This popular blend of essential oils is based on a story from around the 15th century when the bubonic plague was running rampant through Europe and Asia. Four thieves who were notoriously robbing the infectious dead bodies of all their possessions, miraculously never contracted the highly infectious bubonic plague. This led to deeper questioning in court after they were caught and charged. The magistrate offered them a deal - give up their secret for a reduced sentence. Taking the deal, they shared their herbal knowledge and spoke of the herbs' powerful medicinal properties when combined in certain ways. The specific herbal blend that they had created, made of up aromatic herbs, was highly effective in killing airborne bacteria. Some of the stories told, speak of this concoction in a vinegar form, while others talk about a blend that was in a mask over their faces.
In 1997, Weber State University did a study that found that this prized essential oil blend named after these thieves, has a 99.96% success rate at killing airborne bacteria. We can't be sure whether or not this story of thieves is true, but the essential oils are truly antiseptic, antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-infectious. Anonymous This Thieves oil has the lovely twist of blood orange. Brings modern zip and intoxicating fragrance to the ancient purifying and disinfecting blend. Love it!
